Social commitment

Commitment with attitude

Social responsibility begins with daily actions

As a company with over 100 years of history, it is a matter of course for BERNING that responsibility does not end at the factory site. We do not see economic success and social commitment as opposites, but as two sides of the same coin. That is why we have been supporting projects that empower people, give children security and support families in difficult life situations for many years. It is not a compulsory program, but an indispensable part of our corporate culture.

We firmly believe in the power of togetherness and want to give something back with every contribution – beyond our company boundaries and from the heart.

A place for children with little time

"Bärenherz children's hospice"

Since 2017, Berning has deliberately refrained from giving customers gifts at Christmas and instead donates to the Bärenherz children’s hospice in Wiesbaden. Families with terminally ill children find companionship, professional care and loving support there – from the time of diagnosis and often beyond the child’s death.

Bärenherz stands for lived humanity in extreme life situations. The work of the professional teams is characterized by expertise – and touches us anew every year. The extension in 2024 created even more space for intensive care, retreat and exchange. Bärenherz also offers a comprehensive educational program for schools, after-school care centers and daycare centers on the topics of dying, death and grief. All of this is only possible thanks to the compassion and commitment of many people who support Bärenherz with their time and financial donations.
We are grateful to be able to continuously support this important institution.

Because looking away is not an option!

"Initiative against violence"

Berning has been supporting the “Initiative against Violence” with regular donations since 2021. Because we are convinced that anyone who takes social responsibility seriously must look at where injustice is happening and take action before violence occurs. The initiative supports prevention projects throughout Germany and raises awareness of issues such as domestic violence, bullying and abuse.

By providing financial support for this commitment, we are helping to create safe spaces, promote education and give those affected a voice. This creates a social climate in which respect and civil courage are not just empty words.

Child-friendly education with color and imagination

"Learning with the colored pencil"

Since 2019, we have been involved as a local partner in the “Learning with colored pencils” campaign, which Verlag Markt & Media GmbH implements together with kindergartens. The focus is on topics such as the environment, climate and living creatures, which are taught in age-appropriate coloring books. These are illustrated in a child-friendly way and developed with pedagogical sensitivity. In each coloring book, an animal friend explains what we can do to make our shared world a better place.

The books are distributed free of charge to kindergartens in the Frankenberg area and bring education to where it begins: into the minds of curious children. We are delighted to have been able to support this project for several years because we firmly believe that early education should be colorful, accessible and fun.

Gain confidence through play

"Children in road traffic"

Road safety is not child’s play – but it can be taught in a child-friendly way. That is why we have been supporting the “Children in Road Traffic” project since 2021, which is run by Polizei-Sozialhilfe Hessen e. V. together with the publisher Polizeipublikationen.

At the heart of the project is a lovingly designed coloring book that is distributed free of charge in kindergartens and schools in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. It explains traffic rules in a playful way and teaches children intuitively how to be safe on the roads through coloring, recognition and storytelling. As a company rooted in the region, this contribution to early road safety education is particularly important to us.

“Responsibility is a promise that we keep every day.”
